Outro

The examples below were just a few grabs I had off hand, theres is much more to my showreel and I was happy with it all when it was finished. I have learnt so much at Ravensbourne and achieved a lot. I have mature and become a much stronger student and am thankful of the experience. I thank every member of staff for there assistance and with that I have completed my foundation degree. Many thanks Josh Spencer.

Showreel for Josh Spencer

There was one final thing for me to put up now. I was to create a showreel for the end of term. I had to learn how to use DVD Studio Pro which although quite daunting at first i enjoyed using it and getting to grips with a new piece of software. I used some old project work which I kept as well as using some designs, concepts, life drawing, animatics, screenshots and other pieces of my work for the time I have been at ravensbourne. I will show you here a few of the stills used. this again was a good learning experience for me and feel confident in DVD Studio Pro.

Finished

Okay so we may have missed the dealine but we did finish on time for the end of term. Although this project was not a big one it was thouroughly enjoyable for all involved. I found that i learnt about texturing and definately improved in terms of my modelling skills. i would have liked to got to know more about after effects however because it really brought our scene to life after we had finished. I was happy to be working with Deepa and nathan again on this one and found our teamwork hadnt at all fizzled out. Looking back we all agreed that next time we would not spend too much time researching and concepts/ storyboarding and try and get it done within the first week seeing as we missed the deadline by a couple of weeks. However I found this project different to any of the others I have done in the past and enjoyed it the most. i am pleased with the final outcome. Thankyou Jared and Mike. Josh

The next step

Ok so now the windmill was send to nathan and deepa had finished her character, this meant that so far we were moving at a good pace and everything was coming together nicely. We agreed to put sound effects in which i spent a couple of days chosing and ended up with the effects of a plane chuttering away, countryside for the background, an explosin for when the plane lands and we chose some old music theme tune to have in the background. We decided on a name for our Ident 'Jacks day out' and Deepa was creating text slides to go on the scene. me and Nathan also reserached into how to use Sephia effects for the crackling old effect we wanted for our scene. The Animation of the scene was done in about two days whilst we researched into thius but was shared between deepa and Nathan. Once I had all the materials together to apply we simply rendered the scene and put it into after effects with the music and began editing. the editing was done very quickly and we were done. We did however miss the deadline which I think could well be due to spending too long researching and storyboarding in the first couple of weeks perhaps.

Finished product

This is the finished windmill which i added a back section to with smaller windmills from the back. I did this to make it more interesting and I personally think it worked and my group were impressed.

Windmill Modelling continued

Ok so now to add the parts together.

Windmill modelling

Ok so now I have looked at different windmills I have seen that a lot of them have a generic shape to them which is circular almost with the moving propellars at the front I decided not to waste time and start modelling. I began to extrude a simple tube and extrude the vetrex in the middle on top which gave me a nice shape for the roof. I added certain ring features for effect of a sense of there being more than one floor. The propellars themselves were a little tricky however I was able to create a plane and add sub divides and deleted the inner faces of the squares to get the hollow effect.
